Product Description
Liberate your inner rock star anytime, anywhere. Guitar Hero: On Tour allows gamers to take the rock-solid Guitar Hero experience wherever they go.

Amazon.co.uk
Guitar Hero is already one of the biggest games ever on home consoles, but can it really be made to work on a portable like the DS? A lot of effort has certainly gone into ensuring it does, with the Guitar Hero - On Tour coming bundled with a special “Guitar Grip” attachment of four plastic fret buttons.
There might be only four fret buttons, but the game can be as hard as ever
Blow into the microphone to put out a fire during an axe battle
Guitar Duels work a lot better than the boss battles in Guitar Hero III

With the Guitar Grip in place, you hold the game horizontally and watch as the notes you have to play scroll down on the top screen. You then have to press the appropriate fret buttons and strum along on the touchscreen with the included plectrum shaped stylus.

It’s a clever way to get around the fact that there’s no actual guitar controller, but watch how long you play, or you may get a case of hand cramp. You'll also want a set of headphones for maximum sound quality. No, Guitar Hero - On Tour isn't quite the same as jamming in your living room with a full guitar controller. But for the Guitar Hero-fan on the move though, this is as good as it gets.

Key Features
  • Fingertip control: The Guitar Grip attachment and plectrum stylus recreate the full Guitar Hero experience a lot better than some might have expected.
  • All the hits: Guitar Hero - On Tour includes 26 licensed tracks, almost all of which are master recordings, from bands including Smash Mouth, Santana, and ZZ Top.
  • Familiar faces: Single-player career mode works just like on the home console games with familiar rock personas including Axel Steel and Judy Nails.
  • Battle of the bands: An enhanced version of the battle mode from Guitar Hero III has you putting out flaming notes by blowing into the microphone or signing autographs as you play.
  • Join a jam: Play with or against a friend in wireless mode as you jam together or take part in your own guitar duel.
About the Developer: Vicarious Visions
Founded by two brothers while they were still in school, Vicarious Visions made its name with PC space-combat sim Terminus and went on to become one of the most prolific portable developers in the United States before being acquired by Activision in 2005.

4 out of 5 stars GREAT FUN!   October 16, 2008
Mr. Richard Barn (Brigstock, Northamptonshire, England)
Guitar Hero On Tour is not, as many people say, a big disappointment. It is absolutely great!

1: Gameplay. It's so easy to control and simple to understand, you'll be playing in no time

2: Lifespan. It'll take you ages to cmplete everything, so there'll be fun for - literally - months!

3: Variety. There's such a wide range of songs, from Ozzy Osbourne to Santana, from Smash Mouth to Blink 182, from Nirvana to Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Believe me, you won't find all the songs samey!

4: Graphics. Believe it or not, the graphics on DS are extremely good. The guitars are realistic, and the people actually look like people!

5: Fun. ABSOLUTELY GREAT FUN! (Just don't play for too long or you'll get cramp!)

So Overall, Guitar Hero On Tour is great. A must-buy for anyone, especially hardcore fans!

well i have it
its fun, my wrist hurts but its fun
i didnt expect so much, so i was overpleased when i got it
its worth 35 deffinitly.
the graphics are good you can see teh highway clear as day, and the characters look fine enough to make otu hwta they are suposed to be
speaking of wich there are 2 characters exclusive to this game
a femal southern usa style kinDa cowgirl character called "memphis rose"
and a skater/alternative teenager called gunner jaxon.

thats not all tahts new with character, you can unlock and purchase up to 2 other outifts for each character wich is awesom.
the unlockable guitars are cool as well.

the song list is great
though i do hate nirvana it goes well were it is.

the arenas are new and original too.

nothin in this game is watered down at all.

perfect for ds couldnt have been better
unless there was a way to avoid wrist pains

What else can I say? Got Guitar Hero On Tour for my birthday and am having trouble putting it down! Yes, the controller isn't perfect, but apart from that I can't say a bad word about the game. I'm a girl who knows her way around a fret board and I am impressed with the quality of the tunes, graphics and gameplay. I've not played the game on other consoles, so I can't compare, but standing alone the DS version is fantastic and I would recommend it to just about anyone.

I honestly thought people were joking when I heard Guitar hero was coming out for the DS. However my daughter (aged 12) being a big fan of the PS2 version bought it and loves it!
The game itself is as good as the PS2 version, with all the different modes and unlockables. The controller is excellent - a work of genius though sometimes I struggle with the yellow button, having long fingers! You need to get the strap nice and tight for best results. The "pick" is pretty cool too and stores safely in the back of the controller when not in use. I actually find it a bit easier to use than the guitar version.

It won't take the place of the big screen versions (the small display and low volume lessen the fun a bit) but GH fans who need their fix on the road (or at work!) will enjoy this.
