This little gadget made such a difference in my constant battle with hairy legs that I'm just about to order one for my mum too. I shaved my legs for the better part of the last 20 years. I tried waxing for a while but it was just so messy and painful it didn't last and I went back to shaving. I recently read some reviews about this epilator and decided to give it a try.
The first time I used it, it hurt quite a bit, but I decided to stick with it. I used to cooling pad and the lower speed head and somehow managed to finish my legs. But what a difference next week! It hardly hurt at all, the hairs were not nearly as thick and the little massage wheel thing really did a good job. I couldn't believe it - the thing was pulling my hairs out and I could barely feel it! It's been absolutely great since. It's quick and easy to use, doesn't hurt at all and my legs are much less hairy. The built in light helps so it doesn't matter if your bathroom isn't well lit. It's true that it doesn't leave your legs perfectly smooth, especially not for the first few weeks, but that actually gets better in time.

I suffer from PCOS which means, among lots of other problems, I have excessive hair growth all over my body. I have to remove hair from every inch of me so I needed a product that really works. Shaving just leaves a shadow plus there's razor burn, creams stink and get everywhere, waxing's okay but not perfect because it makes my skin sore & laser treatment is too expensive as I have to have large areas done. I tried epilating years ago but it was too painful but after reading the reviews on here I took the plunge with this one & I'm glad I did. The whole method seems to be different and I am able to reach pretty much every area on my own which saves the humilliation at the salon plus it runs off the mains so no need to recharge (this was a very important point for me as my epilation takes a long time). I am an extreme case & this product works for me - it will work for you. It has made me feel feminine again.

After my old epilator died I spent a while looking for a suitable replacement. The reviews for Braun 5585 looked pretty good, and even though a lot of them claimed it was painless I wasn't convinced: my last machine was loud and intimidating, and *very* painful, even though I have been epilating and waxing for the past 5 years!
This one - on the other hand, is great! I used the 'starter' head to get an idea of what it was like, and it was incredibly soft - I did not actually feel a thing. I used the normal one afterwards, which was took a lot less time, but was also a little more painful. I also used it on my underarms, and am planning on using the small head for my face as well.
It was not as fast as waxing (obviously) but still pretty quick, pain was kept to a minimum, and the various heads work really well! I highly recommend it!

I bought this to replace a ten year old Epilady which was starting to show its age.
Wow! It's so much more effective than that one was especially with the 'expert' head. The expert head stings more initially but it feels more like I've had a close shave than any other epilator I've used. It just got so close to the skin and really picked up the teeny hairs although as a result, it stung more than I've been used to.
The headlight is not just the gimmick that I thought it might be. It makes a real difference if you're using this under artificial light. Much better than suddenly spotting a random lurking hair while out and about.
